Musings from the wee hours of the morning

Filed under: Allison — Allison Bahme @ 1:19 am

It’s been another week of crazy New England weather! First the wintry blast on Thursday - and it took me a harrowing FOUR-HOURS to drive 10 miles! The scariest part was that I *really* thought I was going run out of gas. Who would have thought that it could take over an hour to move less than a 1/4 mile?!? But Caitlin wins the prize in our office, poor thing… it took her SIX AND A HALF hours to get home! :(

Today, er…yesterday, it was a Nor’easter, which is basically only good for staying inside, curling up and reading…lots of applications. :)

Actually, being cooped up inside also gave me a chance to fulfill my SERV Auction obligation for the month. I’ve just finished baking cookies and super-chocolate brownies for Leslie ‘09 (who is quite possibly one of the kindest human beings on the planet, but was rumored to have threatened people if they outbid her on my baked goods!). Speaking of, I’ll try to round up some pics from the auction and add them to my random-assortment-of-photos-from-the-last-month-or-so blog that I hope to post in the near future.

As the sound of city snow plows lull me to sleep…..

  1. *4* HOURS!? That’s crazy! And Caitlin taking almost *7* to get home?? I really feel for you guys with that crazy New England weather. That seems to be one of the few drawbacks to attending college in the Northeast.

Cookies and super-chocolate brownies sound pretty good right about now. It’s pretty cold in St. Louis as well, but the snow isn’t nearly as bad as yesterday…Well, sleep well (as I should as well now…)

  2. That is ridiculous. It seems like it would be a good idea to bust out a pair of snow shoes, a snow cat, or some cross country skis and just “hoof it” for the trip home. Good luck with reading all our apps. (The Snow cat would be the fastest and the funnest; the skis the most stylish and cost effective; and the snow shoes…well those are probably more of a pain then they’re worth)

P.S. Do you know how many apps you guys have gotten this year?

  3. Yes, we *do* know how many apps we received this year… ;)

  4. Wow! And I thought we had it bad in Illinois.

  5. I guess that I kind of walked into that one. On second though, don’t tell me, I’d rather not know the staggering odds against me this year.

On another note: Two Kevin’s with a last name that starts with “S” commenting on the blog. This is going to be interesting.

  6. *gasp* Now the odds are REALLY against me! What are the chances they’ll invite *2* Kevin S’s to CW? :P

  7. I propose a duel of sorts, to see which of us is the superior Kevin S. Seeing as I’m the challenger, you can choose the time, place, and rubber animal.

  9. Olin has a history of having similar male names in each class. Even though each class is roughly 80 students, the class of ‘09 has four Matts, the class of 2010 has four Mikes, and the class of 2011 has four Jacobs. Weird, huh? :-P

  10. Thanks, Katherine. That means there is still hope for me!

However, I still propose 25:00, Hogwarts, Muskrat.
