In flight, this aircraft would appear to be a normal hard runway landing aircraft. Totally slick and aerodynamic. I'd love to learn, synergise with students and faculty and build an extremely ambitious but potent vehicle and finally get a piece of parchment for my wall. 'Develop a new aircraft from the ground up. Is this guy crazy !?!?' No... I'm not crazy. Extremely cunning but not crazy. For a start, the difference between an aircraft subject to masses of CAA regulation and a WIG craft, which is technically a boat and subject to far less regulation, is effective lift and wingspan. To avoid a massive expense, the prototype can be a WIG craft, then, when it's obvious the sucker actually works, you extend the wings and other surfaces to also prove it as an fully fledged aircraft. In short, I'm illustrating several things. I think I embody a good fit for an Olin student as I understand it, I'd love to be one. I bring IP of considerable value with me. I bring real world experience. Excuse the sideways approach. Seeing you've just been /.ed, I didn't think I'd be able to get a message in edgewise through other channels. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Blog name suggestion : 'Calls from the Bridge' I's say your a top grade Aircraft Carrier Air Boss. You have high performance aircraft (students and staff), flying in and out from all angles and it's your job to keep them all choreographed to perfection, otherwise the consequences can be abysmal. Logistics is my weak suit. I admire those who excel at it. I’ve nutted out how to build a seaplane/WIG craft with a totally retractable undercarriage.
